About Me

Auntie Emmy: Hialeah, FL, United States; Originally from Jamaica, I am a professional social worker and registered nurse. I have been a RN for 45 years, most recently putting my experience to work as a medical risk consultant. Disconcerted by the fear I felt for my sister during her battle for breast cancer and the fear I saw in her and her family, I built a practical tool to make a difference in her life and others. I wrote The Little Pink Purse of Courage - a booklet of specific questions for my sister - at the onset of her treatment for breast cancer. The questions help a patient understand her treatment better as well as establish her expectations for care with the doctor and staff.
